10ffI am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. John 10:10 27Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. John 14:27 33But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Matthew 6:33 We all seek in our own way a life of joy, happiness and peace, We look in all the wrong places. When we read His word He tells us that what we seek can only be found in Him, the world and all it's allurements cannot give us inner peace and contentment. The great example is King Solomon, he had everything. He had wine, women and song, wisdom, riches and power but what did he say about all this ? Vanity, vanity, all is vanity !

3When Herod the king had heard these things, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him. 4And when he had gathered all the chief priests and scribes of the people together, he demanded of them where Christ should be born. 5And they said unto him, In Bethlehem of Judaea: for thus it is written by the prophet, 6And thou Bethlehem, in the land of Juda, art not the least among the princes of Juda: for out of thee shall come a Governor, that shall rule my people Israel. Matthew 2:3-6 This morning in my personal devotions I read this passage of the early years of Jesus Christ, It struck me as strange that after hearing from the wise men from the east and from the chief priests and scribes That Herod did nothing about the situation Himself instead of going and searching diligently for the young child He sent the wise men to do his dirty work. Let us not be like King Herod but let us search diligently for Christ in his word day by day and in prayer.

27And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: Hebrews 9:27 You'll know that this year I witnessed first hand the death of a person when Nanna died. The idea of death has been coming more to the forefront of my mind as I get older. I chose to push the idea out of my mind when I was young but as you get older you attend more and more funerals so it cannot be ignored. We cannot choose the time of our departure it my be soon or it my be in the distant future(which really is not that far away), but we know it is inevitable. Are you prepared to die now, and face your God upon His throne of Judgement. We must live every day as it will be our last.

31Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? 32(For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. 33But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Matthew 6:31-33 I've been reading over the last couple of days a biography of Hudson Taylor founder of the China Inland Mission which became Overseas Missionary Fellowship and is now YWAM. This was the first overseas mission that was totally run by faith, they never asked anyone for money and God supplied all their needs. I look back over the years and can see the hand of God in our family supplying all that we needed you as children never went without. So often we try to work things out in our own strength only to be disappointed, if only we did what the passage above says seek God first pray about it seek His will and He will open and close doors and supply all your needs both physical and spiritual.

This will I hope be the recording of our journey to self sufficiency and the building of a christian community. I believe that we as a family have been called to Christian Agrarianism.
