It's been a long time since my last Ramblings and due to massive demand (not) they are back hopefully on a regular basis from now on.

The most quoted scripture over the NCFIC conference day (10 lectures) was

Deuteronomy 6:6,7

6And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: 7 And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.

These words are an awesome commandment from the LORD himself, notice that the words are not an injunction to the priests, or the temple but to Parents that they may teach them to their children. So we today are not to leave the all religious instruction of our children to schools, church or any other but to take the main responsibility upon overselves, it is not to be undertaken haphazardly but diligently  the Hebrew word is שָׁנַן (šā·nǎn): inculcate, teach by rote, impress, formally, repeat, say again, i.e., teach information or behaviors to a student, implying the material is gone over two or more times (Dt 6:7+), note: some sources relate to 9111, with a focus on "sharpening" the student to be potent for action, as a sharp blade is able to cut, but no change in the domain of meaning

also notice the circumstances of the instruction, basically, all of life both formally in family devotions and informally, for this we need to be walking the talk and taking every opportunity to share God with our children.

I have just finished reading a booklet by Joel R. Beeke called Puritan Evangelism.

It was so refreshing to be reminded on what Evangelism should be. I have had people ask me. What benefit is there in reading old stuff. My response was, do you believe that the world has infiltrated the church? The modern church I believe has drifted away from the "Old Paths"

Our family devotions and the end of this booklet Quote Jeremiah 6:16 "Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask  for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls"

This mornings family devotion came from

Isaiah 55

1Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.

2Wherefore do ye spend money for that which is not bread? and your labour for that which satisfieth not? hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness.

this would have to be one of the awesome passages in the bible! We have no money to purchase our salvation, but God freely offers us this salvation. Some people endeavour to satisfy there souls on things that will not, and says listen to Him.

Latter on He says

6Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near:

7Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.

What a passage!

For this mornings family devotions we read Isaiah 26

Isaiah 26:3,4

3 Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. 4 Trust ye in the LORD for ever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength:

Do we seek to have peace in this life God offers us not only peace but perfect peace, He offers it to those who mind is focused on Him and trust in Him because he is all sufficient.

This will I hope be the recording of our journey to self sufficiency and the building of a christian community. I believe that we as a family have been called to Christian Agrarianism.
